Moral and Ethical Dilemmas at End of Life – via Zoom
March 3 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
End-of-life care focuses on preventing and relieve suffering as much as possible while respecting the patients’ personal desires. Medical technology intended to extend life may also increase suffering and prolong the dying process. Making decisions regarding resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, and withholding and withdrawing treatments can fragment families struggling with moral and ethical dilemmas.
This presentation explores how the four ethical principles of autonomy, beneficence, non maleficence, and justice are used to help navigate challenges faced by the clinicians and family members when assisting the dying.
