Traditional Caregivers Summit Goes Virtual for 2020
Transitions LifeCare, Transitions GuidingLights, Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, and Alzheimer’s Association to host virtual Summit for caregivers who seek resources, respite, and resolution.
Like so many other conferences and events these days, the annual Caregivers Summit will move from multiple in-person events to one virtual event, scheduled for October 22, 2020.
“For more than 10 years, the Caregivers Summit has been an in-person event where caregivers – those who are aching to connect with resources and information to help support their role as “caregiver” – can come for networking, education, and, yes, lunch and entertainment,” said Transitions GuidingLights’s co-founder and executive director Nicole M. Clagett. “There was no way we were going to leave this vulnerable group behind during this terrible COVID-19 pandemic, so our host group rallied to come together with a feasible plan.”
Because this year’s Summit will be presented online, via an app where caregivers can choose from among more than 20 sessions and chat with more than 70 “resource” exhibitors, there is no limit to the number of caregivers who can be accommodated.
“The beauty of using an app platform is that we can include family members who may not live locally, caregivers who may not easily be able to leave their loved one alone for a day, and resources that have a wider reach than our traditional Triangle population,” said Clagett. “Providing this platform is possible because of the generosity of our sponsors and exhibitors, and we’re beyond grateful to be able to continue our support of caregivers.”
Registration is open for caregivers at www.caregiverssummit.org. Each attendee should register separately with a unique email address to ensure access to all the features of this event.
